Australia. Asbestos contamination has residents of cleanup from

Cyclone Yasi arrived 14 days ago on the coast in north Queensland. Many thousands of remote households are still without electricity. But some places are already well on its way back back to normal. Not so two small coastal villages. In Tully Heads and Hull Heads still everything looks like the day after the cyclone Yasi. For two weeks, the residents are surrounded by rotting food, sodden furniture and problems with the sewers.

cleanup work had begun there, too slow, but they were discontinued due to asbestos contamination. Many of the destroyed houses were using asbestos-containing building materials built.

order not to compromise as they cleaned up the lives of volunteers, soldiers and firefighters, the administration of the region now called in an asbestos expert to the contaminated and scattered lying around building materials should be disposed of properly.

Had it for there not even offered to renovate the building to prevent asbestos contamination? It is well known that in the region from November to April cyclone risk, while houses can be damaged! Even low concentrations of asbestos dust in the air, the development of cancer promote the lungs.

The residents of two coastal villages are more than frustrated with their current situation. You see the asbestos contamination as the lesser evil and overflowing sewers and piles of rubbish as a greater health risk at. You must have put in such a situation, to track the can. Both scenarios are unthinkable, and an imposition.

asbestos is banned in Germany since 1993, throughout Europe since 2005 and in Australia since December 2003. A private asbestos removal is not possible!

Beautiful Greetings from Melbourne!
